The gruff-voiced singer/songwriter continues to grow on his third album, which in many ways deals with growing up and growing wiser. Jennings, who drops the between-song narrations of previous albums, talks a great deal about finding and maintaining mature relationships and taking responsibility for your actions. With a few exceptions, Jennings avoids clichés in a genre that’s full of them. That is a change for the better. — Jones
